70th anniversary of the outbreak of the Algerian glorious Liberation Revolution
On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the outbreak of the glorious Liberation Revolution, and under the slogan “Glorious November, Loyalty and Renewal,” the Algerian Embassy in Hungary organized a ceremony at the Marriott Hotel on November 8, 2024. The event was attended by Mr. Tamás Varga, Hungarian Deputy Minister of Defense and Co-Chair of the Joint Economic Committee, as well as ambassadors, representatives of diplomatic and consular missions, international organizations in Hungary, and members of the Algerian Association in Hungary.
In his speech on this occasion, His Excellency Mr. Abdelhafid Alahem, Ambassador of Algeria, emphasized the significance of this anniversary, symbolizing the greatest epics in history in the face of a brutal settler colonization that lasted 132 years, during which Algeria sacrificed millions of martyrs whose blood enriched the homeland’s soil. Algeria thus became a model for peoples aspiring to free themselves from occupation, foremost among them the Palestinian and Sahrawi peoples.
His Excellency also highlighted Algeria's commitment to the principles of the Declaration of November 1, 1954, which remains an inalienable reference for the Algerian state and its honorable sovereign positions, as well as its promising economy, ranked among the strongest in Africa and the Arab world.
The Ambassador emphasized the progress made in infrastructure and in various economic and social sectors under the wise leadership of the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune.
He also praised the Algerian-Hungarian relations, whose roots date back to the early days of Algeria’s glorious Revolution, recalling Hungary’s solidarity during Algeria’s war of liberation and the contribution of Hungarian national radio to raising international awareness of the Algerian people’s legitimate right to self-determination.
His Excellency commended the development of diplomatic relations between the two friendly countries in various fields, as well as the outcomes of the Algerian-Hungarian Joint Economic Committee, which met in Hungary in February 2023, and the visit of Mr. Ahmed Attaf, Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad, to Budapest on September 8 and 9, 2023. This visit allowed an exchange of views on several common challenges, particularly in the context of Algeria’s important role in the UN Security Council, where it was rightfully elected as a non-permanent member in 2023.
For his part, Mr. Tamás Varga emphasized the depth of Algerian-Hungarian relations and highlighted various areas of cooperation between the two countries, expressing his hope to continue efforts to elevate these relations to the level of the two countries' potential.
