Commemoration of CHAHID National Day on February 18

Officially proclaimed on February 18, 1991, National Day of Shaheed (February 18) is commemorated every year in order to pay vibrant tribute to our Chouhada (Martyrs) who put the freedom of Algeria above all else and gave their lives for its independence.

The celebration of this National Day is an opportunity to emphasize the importance to be given to national history and its teaching to young generations who must preserve this sacred link with their glorious past and remember the immense sacrifices of the martyrs during 132 years of colonization.

In this context, a ceremony was organized on February 18, 2024 at the Embassy with the presence of His Excellency the Ambassador of Algeria to Hungary and Slovenia Mr. Abdelhafid Alahoum and te staff of the Embassy, during which the national flag was raised to the rhythm of the national anthem, prior to the recitation of the “Fatiha of the Holy Quran» in memory of our glorious martyrs. H.E. the Ambassador of Algeria delivered a speech on this occasion.
