The proceedings of the fourth session of the Algerian–Hungarian Joint Governmental Commission for Economic, Technical and Scientific Cooperation were held today in Algiers, under the joint chairmanship of Mr. Yacine Walid, Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Fisheries, and Mr. Tamás Vargha, Deputy Minister of Defence of the Republic of Hungary, with the participation of representatives from several sectors of both delegations.

At the opening of the session, both parties expressed their satisfaction with the progress achieved in bilateral cooperation relations and welcomed the strong willingness to elevate them to higher levels, reflecting the sincere political will of the leaders of both countries, as well as the historical ties of friendship linking Algeria and Hungary.

This session is being held in a context marked by a significant increase in the volume of trade exchanges between the two countries, as well as the emergence of initiatives in various fields such as scientific research, industry, energy, and agriculture. Both parties particularly welcomed the progress achieved within the framework of the research cooperation programme, especially in the fields of agriculture and forestry, which has been materialised through agreements signed between Algerian and Hungarian research institutions.

The work of this session focused on several issues of mutual interest, notably:

✅ studying the possibility of reopening the air route linking Algiers and Budapest, in light of the revitalisation of exchanges between the two countries;
exchange of expertise in the fields of agriculture, forestry resources, and aquaculture;
✅ cooperation in scientific and technical research and vocational training;
✅ cooperation in the energy sector, with Algeria, as one of Europe’s partners in this field, seeking to benefit from Hungary’s experience in renewable energies;
✅ strengthening exchanges in the tourism sector and promoting tourism potential and capacities in order to create new momentum in this area;
✅ highlighting the importance attached by the Algerian State to digital transformation and support for start-ups;
✅ presenting investment opportunities in the context of Algeria’s increased openness to foreign investment, within the framework of the new investment law, which offers unprecedented incentives and advantages to investors;
✅ strengthening bilateral trade exchanges and creating new momentum in the exchange of expertise.

At the conclusion of the fourth session of the Algerian–Hungarian Joint Governmental Commission for Economic, Technical and Scientific Cooperation, both parties welcomed the positive outcomes of the session and expressed their shared commitment to further enhancing political, economic, and cultural cooperation to higher levels.

The session concluded with the signing of the minutes of the meeting, including the joint action plan agreed upon to strengthen mutual cooperation through a pragmatic approach based on the win-win principle.
